I’m originally from Fort Collins, Colorado where I grew up running and writing — a lot! From my first self-published novel at 12 years old to interviewing sources in college, I always knew I wanted to be a writer. After attending Iowa State on a track and field scholarship and graduating with a journalism degree, I moved to Des Moines and quickly entered into the world of marketing and magazines.
I spent my first five years in my career as a copywriter for brands such as Kum & Go convenience stores and Dotdash Meredith publications including Travel + Leisure, Food & Wine, Allrecipes, Better Homes & Gardens, and Magnolia Journal. This experience combined with additional freelance writing for several blogs and podcast advertisers brought me to an editorial position at Better Homes & Gardens magazine. I write and edit food stories, develop recipes, and manage freelance contracts for the print issues.
