My parents raised my sister and I on the Front Range in Colorado. When I was just 12 years old I started running competitively, and thus began my obsession with being the best athlete I could be. I was fortunate to run on a nationally ranked high school cross-country team and travel to meets around the country. After seeing a great amount of success, I attended Iowa State University on a cross-country and track & field scholarship where I trained for four years and competed for three. I could have taken a fifth year of eligibility, but after running around for so long (literally!) I felt burnt out and lacked the excitement, enthusiasm and goals that had fueled my training for 10 years straight.
I knew it was time to try new experiences, appreciate the little things and enjoy life on a daily basis. However, I have new goals. BIG goals. Career-type goals that matter. Most of us do! So instead of dropping everything to be a yogi in the woods (although this does sound pretty great) I wanted to approach my life with the same fervor and energy as before, but include wellness in the equation this time around. This blog is a behind-the-scenes look of prioritizing wellness while striving for personal success.
